It was a good yet exciting day yesterday for singer Katy Perry, who witnessed the miracle of birth with her own two eyes. Katy proudly let her fans know that she assisted in the birth of a baby and is now so skilled in this activity, that she can add it to her resume.

The singer made the announcement to her fans on her Twitter page, where she also described that the birth took place in a living room, which is highly unconventional. It was either a home birth, which doesn't explain why Katy was there, or it was an emergency birth, in which case the singer was just caught at the wrong time.

Rising to the occasion, Katy tweeted, “Finally you can add ‘helps delivers babies in living rooms’ to my resume! It's been a miracle of a day...❤️ Auntie Katy aka Stylist Auntie (sic).”

There is no further information about who gave birth, but we can speculate by her use of the word “auntie” that it's something to do with her sister. Many fans have speculated that she was in fact referring to her older sister Angela Hudson, who was reported pregnant later last year.

It comes as a bit of happy news for the pop star, who is today reported to have split up from current boyfriend John Mayer. The 29-year-old singer and Mayer had reunited after a brief breakup last year and were even thought to be getting married, with numerous reports of a Hawaii wedding and several photos of an alleged engagement ring given on Valentine's Day.

But while things have taken a turn for the worse in her love life recently, after the bitter divorce from British comedian Russell Brand, on the family front, things seem to be going a lot better.

The reasons behind this unexpected split are still a mystery, but insiders are claiming that it has a lot to do with Katy's hectic work schedule as she's recently embarked in another world tour, “Prism.”

The former couple are however said to have remained good friends and have decided on their split together, saying that it was the best decision they could take at the moment.

“She's stressed about the tour, they've been fighting. It is probably for the best, because she is going to be on tour for forever. Of course this happens all the time, I can't keep track anymore. But for now they are done,” said an insider.

Katy is currently also sparking controversy with her lavish video for “Dark Horse,” which is being blasted by Muslims for offensive content to their religion. The Egyptian-styled video contains footage of a man being destroyed while wearing a pendant that says “Allah” around his neck.
