So the rumors were true: Katy Perry and Taylor Swift, once good friends, are engaged in a bitter feud and Katy plans to strike back after Taylor’s “Bad Blood” release with her own diss track. Early indications have it called “1984.”

Katy registered the track the other day, as recorded on her music publisher’s site, BMI, Us Weekly reports. No other details are included in the report, which means that a possible release date and anything else pertaining to the track are subject to speculation.

Somehow, though, fans have talked themselves into believing that this will be a diss track about Taylor, either because “1984” strikes very close to the name of Taylor’s latest album, “1989,” or because rumors about an upcoming “Bad Blood” response emerged online late last month.

The two had a falling out after Katy tried to hire dancers for her upcoming tour from under Taylor, who, at the time, was also on tour. Taylor saw this as professional sabotage and cut ties with Katy for good afterwards, as per her own admission in a later interview.

She also wrote a song about it, which would be included on “1989.” Obviously, Taylor never mentioned Katy or the name of the song, but the media and the fans decided that she could only be speaking of the “Roar” singer, and that the track in question was “Bad Blood.”

When the music video for it was released (see below), the Katy Perry connection became more obvious through the fact that Selena Gomez played the villain and wore a dark wig that made her resemble Katy. Apparently, Katy thought so too because she’s ready to strike back - and soon!
