Over the weekend, at Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards, the recipient of the annual sliming turned out to be singer Katy Perry, who was covered in the bright green goo as she was about to introduce Miley Cyrus on the stage,
People magazine informs. Luckily, Perry knew about the surprise organizers had in store for her and came prepared.
A few hours before the awards ceremony, Perry tweeted that she had heard word on the street was that she was about to get slimed at the Kids’ Choice Awards. Luckily, “I’ve had a lot of practice,” she wrote. Consequently, she also dressed appropriately for what was coming her way when she took to the stage to hand Miley the award for Favorite Movie Actress for her part in “Hannah Montana: The Movie.”

The singer presented the favorite movie actress award along with Jonah Hill at the show, which aired live from LA’s Pauley Pavilion on Saturday night. When she opened the envelope to announce Miley Cyrus as the winner, she was hosed with the network’s signature bright green slime,” People says. Luckily, Perry wore a rubber dress that made the goo run down on her.
“Cyrus scored the award for Hannah Montana: The Movie. When she walked onstage to accept, Perry motioned to give her a hug before backing away. ‘Thank God we both wear wigs,’ Cyrus joked, before adding, ‘Thank you, Katy, for not sliming me’,” the same publication adds. But if Miley got away without a hug from Katy, not the same can be said about Jonah Hill, who cringed as the singer went to him and gave him a warm, slimy hug.
Though she knew, Katy still managed to look sufficiently surprised and convincingly grossed out. After she was hit by the slime, as she was complaining that she could no longer see anything, the star also joked about how she couldn’t understand why it tasted “like boogers.”
