The singer wants children, but not necessarily a man

In an recent interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Katy Perry has made some shocking statements that are going to change your perspective on the “Roar” singer. Generally considered to be just another pop princess, Katy proves that there's more to her than meets the eye.

The bottom line from reading her interview is that she doesn't need a man in her life and the fact that she's in a relationship or not does not define her as a person. She also speaks about motherhood, something which is incompatible with her career at the moment, but she doesn't rule it out.

The discussion invariably turns to the direction of the boyfriend, something you kind of need when trying to procreate. But Katy disagrees, “I want to be doing that in the right time, And that's not in the next two years, you know? Maybe it's in a five-year plan, but I need to really be able to focus 100 percent of my attention on it. I don't really want to take the child on tour. Not until, like, birth through five is over.”

“I don't need a dude” she says proudly and gives as example other gay couples like Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka, who have children together. “It's 2014! We are living in the future; we don't need anything. I don't think I'll have to, but we'll see. I'm not anti-men. I love men. But there is an option if someone doesn't present himself,” Katy sets the record straight.

Katy is, for all intents and purposes, single at the moment, although it's rumored that she's been involved in an on-again-off-again relationship with musical producer Diplo ever since she split up from John Mayer this spring. But it's not big enough to show up on the radar and that's why the press has been busy pairing her with every man she comes into contact with.

Then there's that whole Robert Pattinson thing, since the two of them swear to be platonic friends who just happen to get along well with one another. Many a times has the press speculated that they are just more than bosom buddies, but it has yet to come up with at least one shred of evidence.

So, at least for the time being, Katy is really doing it without any man in her life after a couple of disappointments in her love life. There's been the failed marriage to Russell Brand and then the on-again-off-again relationship with John Mayer, who turned out to be a serial womanizer.
