Good pals Rihanna and Katy Perry are finally ready to take that step fans have been dreaming of for some time: make music together. Katy has confirmed a duet is in the works and, in the process, dissed Beyonce and Shakira.

In a new interview cited by AOL Music, Katy says that, indeed, the rumors are true: she and Rihanna will be heading into the studio on a joint single.

She knows such a collaboration was a long time in the making, but she says there's a reason for the delay: they both want it to be iconic.

“We've collaborated on a lot of things, but just not songs yet. It's one of those things that's got so much build up that we have to deliver,” the pop star says, stressing there's a lot of pressure on them to put out a great song.

Because they've already taken so much time in coming out with a duet, Katy and RiRi want to make sure their time – and fans' money – won't go down the drain.

And then comes the Beyonce diss.

“I want it to be like that Eurythmics and Aretha Franklin song 'Sisters Are Doin' It for Themselves,' not like 'Beautiful Liar.' I definitely want to do something that is so iconic,” Katy says.

She's referring to the “Beautiful Liar” duet Beyonce released with Shakira. We've included the official video for it at the end of the article, just in case you don't know it.

For the time being though, Katy further says, neither she nor Rihanna has had time to sit down and talk about what they want to do on the “iconic” track.

It will be iconic either way, the star says.

“[Rihanna's] kind of busy, too. We're both busy but we planted the seed two years ago. How disappointed would you be if that song came out and it's no good? Sometimes you have to wait for greatness,” Katy explains.

Because of her comments, fans of the four stars are now debating on whose talent is greater, as we speak.
