Katy Perry's video for the “Dark Horse” collaboration with Juicy J has just come out and it's just about what you'd expect from a pop video, themed in ancient Egypt. There are elaborate settings, full of colors, intricate costumes and even ancient bling chariots.

The pop singer poses as a reincarnation of Queen Cleopatra, except more evil. She's surrounded by members of her court, some of which are inexplicably blue and wearing cat's heads. She welcomes a bunch of suitors, but since she's not impressed by them, she turns them all into useful things with her magic powers.

One by one, the suitors get turned into jewelry, an alligator purse or even a tasty spicy dish. Juicy J also makes an appearance in the video, but he stands out since he doesn't fully respect the Egyptian theme of the song.

He comes out dressed in normal, every-day modern clothes, with just a pair of sunglasses inscribed with Egyptian hieroglyphs as the only sign he's part of the video.

There is no doubt this video was very expensive to make and it leaves many to wonder if it's going to help the song perform better in the charts. For her part, Katy has been bringing a new and colorful persona for every one of her new videos and it's beginning to become a distraction from the song.
