14 DAY TRIAL // Whenever she's on the red carpet, Katy Perry makes sure all eyes are on her, either by revealing a lot of skin or by showing off her curvaceous body. Last night was the exception to that unwritten rule.
The singer walked the red carpet at the 2012 Billboard Awards hand in hand with her 91-year-old grandmother, with whom she also color-coordinated.
Unlike on previous occasions, Katy played it very demure in a sparkly, pale violet Bleumarine gown, matched with violet curls and dark purple lipstick, which gave the whole outfit a goth feel.
Aside from the fact that it sparkled, the gown stood out for its scooped back and tailored cut, which showed off Katy's enviably fit figure without being too obvious about it.
Her grandmother, on the other hand, wore gray all over, and even pimped out her cane by having it covered in glitter for the special occasion.
“My date to tonight’s Billboard Music Awards is hotter than the las vegas weather. SMOKIN’!” Katy wrote on her Twitter before the big night.

During the awards show, Katy performed her brand new single “Wide Awake,” but was also on stage to accept the Spotlight Award, which tied her with Michael Jackson in having 5 number ones from the same album.
“This is cool! They told me the only other person who’s received this award is Michael Jackson, so I feel incredibly honored to be in the same category – although I don’t compare at all!” she said in her acceptance speech.
“Most of all, of course, I always say that the people have the power, so I want to say thank you to the glittering, gorgeous community of fans out there,” she added.
Perry also joked about looking forward to later that night, when she would be doing shots backstage with her date, her grandmother.
