14 DAY TRIAL // Their love story has taken up more pages (both virtual and real) than any other celebrity couple in showbiz, mostly because of their willingness to do and say everything on camera. Yet, proving that even the best things can come in short supply, Peter Andre is divorcing former glamour model Katie Price, aka Jordan, for reasons that have not yet been disclosed to the media, the British tabloid The Sun informs.
Katie and Peter have been married for approximately four years, and have together three children, of which one is from one of Jordan’s previous affairs. Their relationship, often said to be cracked to the core, was the subject of several reality series and seasons, but also of countless articles both in the local and national media. What Katie and Peter never revealed though seems to have been the extent of the rift that tore them apart, The Sun says.
According to several insiders, it’s Peter Andre who has asked for divorce because he wants to remain in the US to try and make a comeback in music, while Katie is pushing him to move the entire family back home in the UK, where she has friends and family she misses. Another reason for the split might have been Katie’s infamous partying ways, of which Andre has complained on more than just one occasion. Too much drinking, club-hopping and the possibility of cheating on Katie’s behalf are said to have driven Peter Andre to this drastic decision of splitting.
The couple are thought to have a joint fortune estimated at £30 million, most of which is due to Katie’s modeling contracts and many business endeavors, which include lingerie lines, clothing collections, books, toys and beauty products. When they wed, Peter Andre insisted that they signed a prenuptial contract, saying he didn’t want “anything from her than love,” which means the divorce will not provide for him financially in any way. Still, that leaves the question of the custody of the three children, which may still lead to a heated court battle in the following weeks, several media outlets are pointing out.
Speaking on Andre’s announcement, Katie Price has admitted that the divorce proceedings were neither her doing nor her desire. Although the star refuses to say what has led to such a decision, she says Peter is and will always be the love of her life, the man next to whom she thought she’d grow old some day. “Pete is the love of my life – and my life. We have children together and I am devastated and disappointed by Peter’s decision to separate and divorce me – as I married him for life.” Katie tells The Sun.
