Although the public consensus seems to be that no one really likes Katie Price, formerly known as Jordan, from things like making of her divorce and personal life a “product” she sells to the tabloids to being a talentless example of a “celebrity,” it’s clear that, at least, people love to watch her suffer. Until not long a star on ITV’s “I’m a Celebrity… Get Me out of Here” reality show, Price chose to leave – and, in doing so, she took 2 million viewers with her, the
Daily Mail informs.
As fans must know, the model chose to leave the show before it ended because she could no longer take always being voted for public trials by the viewers. The seventh time when she was named for some gruesome trial, she decided she would walk, even if that meant she would lose £100,000 of the
£350,000 the network promised her if she made it until the end of the season. As it turns out, when she left, she also took a considerable chunk of the show’s ratings, the 2 million viewers that chose not to return to it, totaling about 20 percent of the overall audience.
“Ratings for I’m A Celebrity have plunged by more than 20 per cent after Katie Price quit the show. The program had been attracting audiences of close to ten million with viewers transfixed as the glamour model was forced to undergo a string of gruesome jungle trials. Miss Price had gone into the program to win over viewers after losing the battle for public opinion in the wake of her split from singer Peter Andre earlier this year,” the Mail writes. It is not known to what extent she managed to do that last part, but one thing is certain: she clearly enjoys increased exposure now.
“Sunday night’s program, which saw her tackle her sixth and final Bushtucker Trial, drew an audience of 10 million. Almost 9.5 million viewers tuned in on Monday to see her exit interview and watched in horror as she dumped boyfriend Alex Reid, who had flown out to propose, live on air. But by Tuesday night’s episode, just 7.8 million people were tuning in – a slump of around 20 per cent,” the same publication also informs.
At the moment, Katie Price is preparing to return back home, where her children are waiting for her. The official line for her departure from the show was not vexation at always being voted for the trials, but rather her inability to last much longer without her kids, as well as the many memories that she could not deal with – Price and ex-husband Peter Andre met and fell in love on the same show many years ago.
