Tom Cruise and his wife Katie Holmes - dubbed TomKat by celebrity media all around the world - have that kind of relation that is bound to make the headlines pretty much every other day. The movie star turned Scientology poster boy and his beautiful, sophisticated yet sometimes robotic-looking wife are among Hollywood's high-profile couples, however this does not mean that they are in any way controversy-free - on the contrary. People have long speculated about the changes Katie Holmes seems to have undergone after her marriage to Scientologist Cruise, and there were some who claimed that Tom's extremely high-powered, energetic lifestyle would soon wear fragile-looking Holmes out. Star magazine claims that the rupture in the couple's relationship has already happened, and that Katie is looking for a break from her controlling husband.

Star magazine claims that Holmes is in the final stages of negotiating a Broadway appearance in the show All My Sons and as a result she decided to move to Manhattan alone, as part of what Star calls a "a trial separation", aimed to give her a little bit of time and space for herself. To which Cruise replied that he's got nothing against moving to New York, as long as he's coming along for the ride - which is obviously not what Katie had in mind. "She desperately needs to be on her own for a while, but there's no way Tom is going to let her take Suri away," claims a source quoted by Star. Which, of course, comes as no surprise, given how obviously controlling Tom Cruise usually appears. According to the same celebrity magazine, Suri is one of the main reasons behind Tom and Katie's recent arguments.

"There's no way he'll allow it [the separation]. He just doesn't want Katie - or Suri - out of his sight for long. He told her that if she goes to New York, fine, but he goes with her," the same source claims. Holmes is reportedly unhappy with the fact that her husband is usually making all the decision with regard to their daughter - which, of course, also makes sense. There were previous reports in the media about how Cruise and Holmes are raising their daughter based on the Scientology principle according to which her spirit has already lived hundreds of previous lives and doesn't need too many rules - which can only mean that the two usually have a very spoiled, bossy baby on their hands.
