Katie Holmes and her and her fiancée, superstar Tom Cruise, have announced last week that Katie is pregnant with their first child.

Holmes, 26, who got engaged to Cruise in May, at the Eiffel Tower in Paris, spoke for the first time about the pregnancy, declaring: "It's a dream come true. I feel great - (being pregnant) is so beautiful. I've never been so happy... I'm beaming."

Speaking about Tom's reaction when she told him she's expecting a child, the actress added: "He is just so thrilled. We are getting a baby room and I'm learning how to knit."

The Holmes-Cruise couple is said to have decided getting married next month on a beach, because the beautiful soon-to-be bride doesn't want to "walk down to the aisle with a bump".

According to a source quoted by Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper, "Tom's old fashioned. He wants his child to be born in wedlock. He's very romantic and wants everything to be in place before the birth.
They both decided on the Ritz-Carlton in Cancun as soon as they got engaged and initially were planning on tying the knot around Christmas. Katie didn't know that she was pregnant, so their arrangements suddenly had to be scrapped".
