14 DAY TRIAL // A few weeks ago, as a special guest on Saturday Night Live, Anne Hathaway did a spot-on impersonation of Katie Holmes while on “The Miley Cyrus Show.” Holmes is reportedly fuming mad over it, it has emerged.
As the video below will confirm, the skit had “Miley Cyrus” and her dad “Billy Ray Cyrus,” with a special appearance from “Katie Holmes.”
Whereas all three performances are brilliant, it’s Anne who shines the most as Katie, managing to replicate even her breathy, spaced manner in which she speaks during interviews, as well as the way in which she curls her mouth.
The National Enquirer claims in its latest print edition (story via here) that the impersonation was actually too good, and that Katie is offended by it – and she’s not convinced that Anne only spoofed her “Dawson’s Creek” character.
Perhaps anticipating some sort of backlash, after the SNL skit aired, Anne wanted to set the record straight: she wasn’t spoofing Katie but her character on the series that made her a star, Joey Potter.
“I was a teenager when ‘Dawson’s Creek’ was airing. And I was a pretty avid fan, so it just sort of came from that. It wasn’t really Katie Holmes; it was more [her Dawson’s character] Joey Potter,” Anne said of the spoof.
Apparently, Katie is not buying it - and she’s extremely upset with Anne for ever agreeing to do the skit when she knew what it was all about.
“Katie is feeling really hurt and less than thrilled about Anne. Katie says she can take a joke but she thinks Anne’s backpedaling is ridiculous and insincere,” an insider says for the Enquirer.
“She and Anne have auditioned for some of the same roles, so there’s always been competition between them,” the spy goes on to say.
Furthermore, Katie is reportedly so upset she’s even thought of a way of getting back at Anne: with a skit of her own.
“With Tom’s help, Katie has come up with a pretty dead-on impersonation of Anne. Katie has hosted ‘SNL’ in the past, and she can’t wait to reveal it on the air,” the insider reveals.
The spy doesn’t say, however, when Katie’s skit will air. In the meantime, below is Anne Hathaway’s. Enjoy.
