Report claims Katie Holmes is depressed and upset that Tom Cruise didn't make her a big movie star

When Katie Holmes accepted Tom Cruise's marriage proposal just a few years ago, she thought it would also boost her profile as an actress. Now that she's realizing it won't happen, she's depressed and disappointed in him, says a new report.

Katie was recently photographed looking haggard and sad (see attached photo). She had white hairs and clearly seemed in no mood to have her photo taken.

She's depressed, clearly, InTouch Weekly writes in its latest print issue (story via CB). She thought Tom would make her a big movie star and he's let her down in the worst way possible.

As if that wasn't enough, while she's at home babysitting and occasionally working on her own fashion line, he's working almost around the clock, getting movie offer after movie offer.

Somehow, she must feel cheated, the tab implies.

“Katie doesn’t have much to smile about these days, as her husband, Tom Cruise, reignites his career – and forgets the promise he made to help make his wife a big star,” InTouch writes.

“While Tom works nonstop – he just finished filming Oblivion in New Orleans and is promoting Rock of Ages – dedicated mom Katie looks after their 6-year-old daughter, Suri,” adds the same report.

A source confirms that Katie is depressed and upset with Tom for not doing right by her in showbiz, as she thought he would.

“Katie thought that being married to a huge star like Tom would open doors for her. But she’s not being offered the roles Tom vowed to get her. This isn’t the life she signed up for, and she feels depressed,” says the unnamed insider.

As fans must know, Katie's most recent films failed to make an impression either on the box office or on the critics.

Tom, on the other hand, is slowly coming up at the top of the list, having made his official comeback in “Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol.” He'll be seen next in the musical dramedy “Rock of Ages,” which he's now promoting.
