Katie Holmes Hires Step-Daughter Bella as Assistant

Ever since she married Tom Cruise, there’s been lots of speculation that Katie Holmes doesn’t exactly see eye to eye with her step-children, with Bella in particular. That’s not true, Tom says, revealing Bella is actually working with Kate now.

In a recent interview with People magazine, Tom made two revelations: first of all, Katie is designing her own fashion line and, number two, she’s enlisted 18-year-old Bella as an assistant.

The collaboration is bound to be a great one, the actor believes, because Bella has the ideas, while Kate the means to make them happen, via her label Holmes & Yang.

“Kate’s designing and [Bella] is just working her way up,” the actor says, clearly hoping that, one day, Bella will stand by Katie’s side at the head of the fashion company.

“She’s an artist, Bella, so it’s really great that she gets to work with it. She’s loving it,” Cruise explains for People.

Sadly, that’s about all the details he can offer on the collaboration, since he’s not the one to meddle in his wife’s business.

“This is my wife’s company, so you talk about movie sets with me, I can tell you [about] that,” the actor says with his trademark smile.

“You’ve got to go to all these different factories and verify and make sure you get the correct clothes,” he ventures a guess about what goes on behind closed doors with Katie and Bella.

One thing Tom knows is that he’s happy and very proud of Bella’s fashion aspirations. “It’s wonderful!” he gushes about her career choice.

In other Katie Holmes-related news, at the end of last month, the actress settled with Star, which one claimed in one its print issues that she was “addicted” to Scientology treatments and perhaps also had some issues with drugs as well.

Star publicly apologized for the story and agreed to donate the money from the settlement to Holmes’ charity of choice, as we also informed you at the time.
