14 DAY TRIAL // Only a few days ago, Katie Holmes filed for divorce from Tom Cruise after 5 years of marriage. She's asking for sole custody of their daughter Suri and, according to a new report, she's perfectly happy knowing she won't get any of Tom's money.
Some years ago, when they were still more or less newlyweds, there was a lot of talk about how the two had signed the weirdest prenup in showbiz, one that earned Katie $3 million (€2.39 million) for each year she spent married to him.
While that was clearly an exaggeration and the details of the agreement have never been revealed to the public, it's certain that Tom and Katie signed one such prenup before tying the knot in a beautiful ceremony in an Italian castle.
It prevents Katie from getting any of Tom's money, TMZ claims but, as it happens, she's perfectly fine with that.
The celebrity gossip e-zine claims to have it on very good authority that Katie knew from the start she would get merely peanuts from Tom in case of a divorce, and she was never dissatisfied by that.
Right now, she's happy with getting out of the marriage and getting Suri, her daughter with Tom, as far away as possible from Scientology, with whom the Hollywood actor is very much involved.
“We've learned the prenup Katie signed is long, tight and stacked in Tom's favor. We're told reports that she'll walk away with $15-20 million [€11.9-15.9 million] are absurd. Our sources say Katie will walk away with what she brought into the marriage and hardly anything else,” TMZ reports.
Katie has her own money, from her acting career and her foray into fashion, as well as various endorsements she's done along the years, so she'll be ok with that.
“She's not about the money. She's not that girl. She loves to work. Money is not that important to her. She makes plenty on her own,” says one spy.
“We're told there's one thing Katie is insistent on – she wants child support from Tom, and that could turn into a big ticket item,” TMZ adds.
Since the divorce announcement, Katie has been busy severing all ties with Tom and the Church of Scientology she ever had, including firing the bodyguards he had hired for her and replacing them with guys of her own choosing.
