14 DAY TRIAL // Katie Holmes filed for divorce from Tom Cruise and, in a matter of days, got him to agree to her terms as regards the custody of their daughter, Suri. She's ready for a new stage in her life and she's clearly marking it with a makeover in the beauty department.
At least, that's what reports in the weeklies and paparazzi photos seem to indicate.
The latest print issue of InTouch magazine (story via CB) claims that Katie has definitely been changing a lot of things about her appearance since she filed the divorce papers, concluding that Katie's pre-divorce dowdy style must have been a requirement of sorts of being Mrs. Cruise.
“Strolling through Midtown Manhattan on a recent Saturday afternoon, Katie Holmes turned heads for all the right reasons. Clad in a short, formfitting dress and flirty flats, the smiling, newly confident star was a far cry from the sad, mousy-looking creature she became during her marriage to Tom Cruise, 50,” InTouch writes.
Just as tabloids used to speculate that, at least in the first year of their relationship, Katie wasn't really allowed to wear high heels when out with Tom, in recent months, there's been a lot of talk about how he didn't let her dress according to her age and preferences, insisting on that she looked more like a dowdy housewife than a celebrity.
“Now, she's ready to break free and show the world what she's all about. She's going to do whatever it takes to look her best. This makeover was just the start,” a source claiming to be close to the situation says.
“Katie's so much happier now. Every day, she's getting more and more of her old self back,” the insider adds.
As noted above, paparazzi photos confirm that Katie's style has been improving since she left Tom, but whether the two are connected is a matter of speculation.
Without a doubt, though, she's smiling more.
