Katie Holmes Doesn’t Want Another Child

Though she’s constantly on the celebrity “bump watch” and plagued by rumors of how husband Tom Cruise is pressing her for another child, Katie Holmes says she doesn’t want one right now. Suri is more than a handful, she says for InStyle.

Speaking with the magazine, Katie does her best to address a series of rumors that have made it in print in recent months, including the one that said she was a careless mother for always allowing daughter Suri to go out without a coat even during winter.

Because she aims to make Suri learn on her own (on the principle, you will put your coat on when you are cold), she never forces her to wear extra clothes, Katie says for the publication.

She and her daughter have repeatedly been photographed walking outside for no more than a block, during which time Suri did not feel cold and, as such, did not put her coat on.

Reading in the magazines about how she’s not a fit mother because of this was hurtful, Kate admits, especially when her primary concern right now is that Suri is well taken care of.

In fact, that’s the reason she gives when asked how come she doesn’t feel any pressure to have another child.

“We already have a very big family; a full household with cousins who are over a lot, and [Suri] has her friends. My biggest thing is making sure she’s fully taken care of and doing well,” Katie says.

She also gushes about her husband, Tom, whom she calls a “manly romantic.” Being both in the movie industry means they spend some time apart, but they are determined to make it work no matter the effort.

“In our family we have a policy: we make it work. We Skype, and we try not to go for a week without seeing each other. We’re also very good at setting up camp wherever we go,” Holmes explains.
