Katie Couric, one of the best-known television journalists in the United States, is inviting players to use Twitter in order to talk about the positive elements of violent video games, after putting out a highly critical account of their influence.

The journalist says on her official account, “Passionate gamers upset w convo whether violent video games can contribute to v behavior. Tweet the positive side of violent v games? Thanx!”

The discussion generated has already caught attention and it will be interesting to see whether the arguments will make it past the virtual world and on CBS..

Some are criticizing the question as being loaded to favor Couric’s viewpoint, but others seem to be ready to offer arguments showing how video games can enhance a player’s life.

Video games have been blamed for a number of violent incidents recently, including the shooting at Sandy Hook.
