Katherine Heigl is set to make a comeback on TV, reports say. The former “Grey's Anatomy” star will be both starring in the series and producing it.

According to USA Today, the series will be a drama about the CIA, but it is still in its script stage. Heigl's team has not confirmed the actress' participation in the project as of yet.

Heigl has spent five years playing Dr. “Izzie” Stevens on “Grey's Anatomy” and it catapulted her to major roles on the big screen. She has already starred in blockbusters such as “Knocked Up” and “27 Dresses.”

The screenplay for the up-and-coming project will be written by Alexi Hawley, writer-producer on ABC's “Body of Proof” and “Castle.”

According to Independent Woman, the topic of the series will center around the Central Intelligence Agency and adviser or communications liaison for the US President.

It will revolve around “how the CIA handles hotspots around the globe,” insiders say.

There is no information on what network will be airing the new series, but TVNZ informs that NBC and ABC are currently looking into it. The show could be airing in 2014 or 2015.

Heigl and husband Josh Kelley have recently adopted a daughter. Four-year-old Naleigh is not their only child, as they had also adopted 16-month-old Adalaide Marie Hope previously.

She decided to do some changes in her lifestyle after Naleigh's adoption.

“I wanted to quit when Naleigh came into our life. I swore there was no way I was going to smoke with a baby in the house. It's the one massive vice I've had in my life.

“Our house is in the mountains where I can enjoy being a mother and wife. Our dogs love roaming – every time I try to leave they bark and jump on me!” the actress says.
