I must admit, I've had a bit of a prejudice against Katherine Heigl ever since news got out about how she labeled "Knocked Up" as portraying women as silly, annoying idiots. You may agree with me when I say that it's not a good thing to "bite the hand that feeds you", as it's been pompously said over and over again - and no, it's not the wisest move in the world to let everyone know you're not thrilled with the movie that pretty much kick-started your career as a big screen siren. It's true that Katherine was already widely famous for fronting the cast of the hugely popular "Grey's Anatomy", but as so many other actors painfully found out, the leap from the small screen to the big screen is difficult (sometimes impossible) to make. But now, Katherine Heigl is officially a big-time box office actress, and many critics see her as the next Julia Roberts.
"To be honest, it's too much pressure to believe that I could ever fill her shoes, and I can't help but feel that it's a little insulting to her to have that said about her" Katherine comments. "In any case, I think Julia Roberts herself has the whole Julia Roberts thing well under control" she adds. And while she claims fame hasn't changed her, she admits it's good to be able to enjoy some of the well-earned creature comforts that come with celebrity. "The success is great, and even though it brings with it a whole other set of pressures and stresses, it also gives me much more freedom", she admits. "Now, there is much more choice available to me when before my worries were: 'Am I ever going to work again?' and 'Can I pay the mortgage this month?' So yes, having that freedom now means I don't have to worry so much".
Despite what we may expect, being famous hasn't put Katherine off getting married - to her longterm boyfriend Josh Kelley. "People are always asking me if I'm worried because marriages in Hollywood tend not to last a long time, but if you look at the world as a whole, there aren't a lot of marriages working out on any level, not just the Hollywood ones" she admits. "We just live in a different world today; people are more prone to call it a day rather than spending years being miserable if the relationship isn't working. There are always struggles but it's just knowing the difference between compromises you're willing to make and those where you'll end up losing your soul". Well, I may be wrong, but I think Katherine is a much more down to earth person than I originally thought. As longs as she keeps on doing what she's best at and doesn't become a Scientology fanatic, I think we're safe to assume she'll be around for a long time.
