The 51-year-old actress Kathleen Turner is finally ready to leave Hollywood behind and relocate to Europe. The actress announced her intention a couple of months before, but now she's actually doing it!
She says that she took this decision being sick of the Americans' attitudes concerning show-biz stars. Nowadays, people in America are fascinated with teen pretty new actresses that represent an appealing cover, but a less-interesting essence.
Turner feels disgust and pity for the rise of young "stars" like Paris Hilton or Lindsay Lohan, who are nothing more than pretty faces supported by a luxurious life style.
The movie star is going to move to Rome, Italy, in order to receive the same European success and appreciation as other stars, like Catherine Deneuve, Sophia Loren and Jeanne Moreau benefit from.
"Once my daughter Rachel, who is 18, starts university, I'm going to Europe because I think women of my experience and my body of work are so much more respected there. Look at Jeanne Moreau, Catherine Deneuve and Sophia Loren, I could go on. They're all working. I find the idea of today's icons all being teenagers, incredibly uninspiring. I think the Europeans have enough tradition and respect for the experience and body of work of an actress that they don't sell out to the new ones. Some European directors have already been in touch," says Kathleen Turner in a recent statement.
Judging in perspective, it's obvious that the Hollywood star is right about what's happening in the American entertainment industry and it's natural that such a talented actress should star in artsy European movies rather than in commercial American comedies.
