Kate Winslet and husband Ned Rocknroll, Richard Branson’s nephew, welcomed their first child together 14 weeks ago, a baby boy they named Bear Blaze. Above is Kate’s explanation for this unusual name.

The actress is now in Los Angeles doing a string of promo appearances, but she is also in town to be awarded her very own star on the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame boulevard.

She talks about that as well in the interview, but it’s not included in the video. This one is only about Kate’s first experience with an earthquake, which was actually the other day, when one hit LA, and why she wanted to name her boy Bear Blaze.

“A friend of mine when I was younger was nicknamed Bear and I just had always really loved it. And he was very much a bear. He was everyone’s shoulder to cry on he was a big bear hug, he was a great figure in my life and I just had always remembered him and so that’s where it came from,” she says.

Blaze is to remind her and Ned of the fire they both survived some years ago, when both were staying at Branson’s mansion on his private island and a fire broke, reducing the whole place to ashes. She claims this is when they met, but word online has it that they were already involved at the time.

Bear Blaze has Winslet as a family name, with the actress laughing at the idea that he could have been named after his father’s adopted name. Bear Blaze Rocknroll, can you imagine that?
