Kate Winslet married Ned Rocknroll in December last year but, she admits in a new interview with Harper’s Bazaar UK, getting over the heartbreak of her failed marriage to director Sam Mendes was no walk in the part.

This is Kate’s third marriage and, for the first time since she tied the knot, she’s talking about it.

Perhaps more telling is what she doesn’t say in the excerpts from the interview released so far, but the cover photo: a gorgeous black and white shot of Kate, with the caption “Kate Rocknroll.”

She’s clearly started a new chapter in her life but she’s learned important lessons in the previous one as well.

“I’ve really learnt a great deal about myself, in the last four years in particular,” Kate says of her second divorce and third marriage (quotes via the Daily Mail).

“I think I can see more clearly now – about how the pattern of past experiences has shaped who I am, and the characters I have played – and I’m grateful for that,” she adds.

In the end, she knows she will be able to use the bottled up heartbreak for her future roles – talk about a silver lining.

“I have so much more material to draw on for work – rubble, bricks – and I know I can carry it now. I’m not going to drop it, and if I do, I’ll sift through it. Does that make any sense at all? Probably not…” she muses.

In the same interview, Kate talks about meeting the Queen and being awarded with a CBE. She praises the Queen for having “beautiful skin and wonderful thick hair” and for being a wonderful, lovely woman to be around.

Kate and Ned were married in NYC in the utmost secrecy. Reports online say that it was her good friend Leonardo DiCaprio who gave her away at the altar.
