Kate Winslet has officially signed on for “Divergent,” the movie she was first loosely attached to in the media some time ago. She will play Jeannine Matthews, Digital Spy confirms.

Shailene Woodley and Theo James also star, while Neil Burger directs.

Produced by Summit Entertainment, the film is based on the hit novel of Veronica Roth, describing a dystopian future in which people “are divided into factions on account of their personality types.”

According to DS, Woodley will play divergent Tris Prior, while Winslet will be “the intelligent head of the ‘Erudite’ faction.”

“Divergent will also star Maggie Q (Nikita), Die Hard 5's Jai Courtney, Zoë Kravitz (The Hunger Games) and Ansel Elgort. Vanessa Taylor has written the script for Divergent from an original draft by Evan Daugherty,” DS writes.

“Divergent” arrives in theaters on March 21, 2014.
