Kate Winslet doesn’t like to live her life in the spotlight, so this probably explains why she’s being photographed just now for the first time since she tied the knot in early December 2012.

The actress and Ned Rocknroll, the nephew of Virgin billionaire Richard Bronson, tied the knot in a super exclusive ceremony in New York, surrounded only by family and friends.

Word of the nuptials didn’t get out in the press until a couple of weeks later, as we also informed you at the time.

She’s been photographed out in public for the first time just the other day and, of course, all eyes were on her engagement and wedding ring.

“While grocery shopping in Hampshire, England, the actress, 37, gave the first glimpse of her engagement ring since Rocknroll, 34, proposed last summer — plus the wedding band she received from him in early December,” People magazine reports.

“It appears to be a simple yellow-gold setting with a solitaire stone and a matching band,” adds the same media outlet.

“It would seem that Winslet has a preference for bold, chunky rings; her previous wedding ring (from her marriage to Sam Mendes) consisted of thick silver-colored bands with inlaid stones,” People further says.

Kate and Ned started dating sometime in the fall of 2011.

They had known each other long before that, with one of her exes, model Louis Dowler, even telling the press that the romance started during a vacation they spent on Bronson’s island, when he and Kate were still an item.

Kate and Bronson are also good friends, with the actress making headlines when one of his mansions was consumed by fire and she risked her life to go in and save his mother.

Before Ned, Kate was married twice, to Jim Threapleton (1998-2001) and Sam Mendes (2003-2010). She has two children.
