As we also noted at the time, the website in question picked on Kate for being curvier than the average model, and ripped into her by calling her names.
Skinny Gossip is known for encouraging extreme dieting and unhealthy weight, even if it's gone to extreme lengths to distance itself from pro-ana websites as of late, as this Kate Upton story was picked up by mainstream media.
Instead of responding in the same (offensive) manner, Kate simply issued a statement through her publicist, The Sun informs.
“I’m not going to starve just to be thin. I want to enjoy life and I can’t if I’m not eating and miserable,” she says.
“It’s absurd. Kate is gorgeous and very healthy,” her publicist adds.
This is not the first time that Kate speaks out on the issue, stressing the importance of staying healthy and saying health should never be sacrificed for fashion or to fit some ideal, ridiculous beauty standard.
It is, however, the first time she's picked on so viciously on a public forum.
“I love my curves, I’m healthy,” Kate said some time ago, shortly after the casting director for Victoria's Secret annual show Sophia Neophitou went on the record to say she would never be a Victoria's Secret Angel because she had a cheap face and a plump body.
Also then, Upton said she never had any intention of becoming an Angel, even if that's the one thing most models dream about as they start off their new career.
“I’m doing fine in my career, I don’t need to walk down their runway so it’s all good. She can think that and I can think whatever I want about her,” she said, as we also informed you at the time.
