Model is slowly working her way up in the fashion industry, one spread at the time

Kate Upton was a name that didn’t ring that many bells a couple of years back, but things are looking up for her these days. She is slowly but surely becoming the “It” girl in fashion, and her latest spread for V Magazine should explain why.

Photographed by Sebastian Faena, the pictorial has Kate playing a bored but incredibly sensual ’60s housewife, who takes as paramour a younger man in the vain hope of bringing some excitement into her life.

According to the photographer, Kate isn’t just incredibly beautiful but also quite a talented actress as well.

“Kate was an actress during this shoot. A good one, very sensitive, and played the part of a confused, kept housewife with irony. She has star quality. She is like nobody else today,” Faena says.

Kate is like nobody today also as regards her body type: she’s obviously curvier than the regular model, but not in a way that would make her a plus-size cover girl.

Because of her ample curves, which she’s already showed off in pictorials for Terry Richardson and men’s publications, but also for more prestigious fashion establishments like Vogue, she’s being hailed as a model like no other.

Not everybody in the industry likes the idea of a model with such assets, though. Last July, for instance, one thinspiration website launched a very nasty attack on Kate saying that models should be skinny and not look like a “disgusting cow,” as we also reported at the time.

Kate was very diplomatic in her response to the controversy that got started shortly afterwards: she was just doing her job, living her life, making sure she was staying healthy and happy, she said.

“I’m not going to starve just to be thin. I want to enjoy life and I can’t if I’m not eating and miserable,” Kate added.
