Kate Upton is slowly emerging as one of the hottest and most in demand models of the moment. Not only is she gracing the cover of the Swimsuit Issue of Sports Illustrated for the second year in a row, but she’s also getting praises for the photospread inside the pages of the mag.

For obvious reasons, we can’t include any of those photos here but, rest assured, they’re positively scorching.

Which only makes the location of the shoot all the more ironic.

Kate, together with other, just as gorgeous models, was flown all the way to Antarctica for the photoshoot. She recalls she suffered frostbite during the shoot.

“It was freezing!” the blonde says in a recent interview cited by Us Weekly.

Not only was it very cold but Kate had very little on to protect her from it – crocheted bikinis doesn’t count.

“It wasn't great for me... I can't believe we were able to accomplish that,” she says, proud of how far she’s come.

It wasn’t without pain though.

“When I came back, I [temporarily lost my] hearing and eyesight. Because my body was shutting down – working so hard to keep me warm,” she says.

As for what kept her going when she thought she couldn’t last a second more in front of the camera: penguins. They too appear in some of the shots.

“The penguins kept me going! They're adorable. Anytime I was like, ‘I can't do it anymore, I can't do it!’ I would look at them and I was like. Okay, for them...,” Kate laughs.

In another, recent interview, the model admitted that she had no idea she’d end up on the cover since the thought never crossed her mind. In fact, it wasn’t until she saw the cover that it finally sunk in.

Speaking of which, Kate’s entire spread is here if you feel like curiosity is about to get the best of you.
