Kate Upton is perhaps one of the most talked about models these days and, as it happens, the reason she’s so popular is because she doesn’t look like one. Kate has landed a Vogue spread and, in the accompanying interview, talks about her sensational, curvy figure.

She wouldn’t change it for the world, Kate says, referring to rumors that she’d been under pressure to lose weight so that she could look like other, minimal-size models.

Eating is a pleasure and she’s not about to refuse herself that just so she can fit the bill in the industry, the stunning blonde reveals.

“I don’t want to starve myself. I still want to hang out with my family and be a normal girl. You have to be confident, and that doesn’t mean starving yourself,” Kate explains.

Luckily for her, there’s a market for curvier girls as well, and Upton wants to make her mission out of telling young girls and women that it’s ok not to be excessively skinny.

“I think it’s important to look at magazines and think a healthy lifestyle is attainable. Now that the fashion industry likes the idea of me, I’m happy if I can have an influence,” she says.

She’s already seeing the first signs of such an influence but, truth be told, it did require a few swimsuit photospreads, one more sizzling than the other.

“When I lived in Florida, the swimsuit was the key wardrobe piece. I lived ten minutes from the beach, but I never sat there and said, ‘I want to be every man’s fantasy.’ It wasn’t a big deal to be in a bathing suit,” Kate goes on to mention.

“Now, whenever girls come up to me saying they’re happy to see I am confident about my body, it makes me feel good that I am contributing in a way among people my age, people who could be my friends,” she adds.

Far from being an advocate for gluttony, Kate has insisted from the moment she broke on the scene that a woman is not supposed to be just skin and bones. At the same time, though, she’s also placed plenty of emphasis on the need to stay healthy by working out and eating right.
