There's an old saying that you should never forget where you came from, presumably because most people have humble beginnings and it helps those who make it in their lives to remain humble as well. Apparently, this old saying does not apply to Carole Middleton, the mother of Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cornwall.

The outrageous claim is made by none other than a member of Carole Middleton's family, and a close one at that, her own goddaughter, Joanne Callen. The Daily Mail has a lengthy interview with her in which she explains why the Middletons are famous while no one has heard of the Callens.

This is not an act of chance, it's actually something that Carole Middleton has worked hard on, because, as soon as she saw herself enter the royal family, she actively began to remove the rest of her relatives from her life, presumably because they were not aristocratic enough for her.

Joanne goes on to tell how she was basically phased out from family life, she who was once as close as a sister to Kate, having grown up together. What's more worrying is that Joanne reveals that Carole even banished her own brother, Gary.

This is quite strange because it's been speculated in the press for some time now that Gary was actually the one who funded the lavish Middleton lifestyle, and also actively contributed to the royal pursuit which ended in a matrimony for Kate.

“When I was a child Carole was really good to me,”says a bitter Joanne, “She was a very good mother, a lovely godmother, and I liked her. But she has always been a social climber and now I feel she is snobbish. She behaves as if we are not good enough for her now – so she does not need to respond to us or have any care.”

Basically, Carole doesn't show up for family events any more, doesn't bother to reply to invitations and is actively avoiding being seen with her brother Gary, since he's not aristocratic material. Joanne explains, “The real reason is that she is above us now. We’re not in her social circle. It’s as if we are not good enough now and she’s embarrassed by us. She is now even grander than the Queen.”

Joanne claims that no one from her side of the family has had any contact with Kate, Carole or Prince George since the wedding. None of them has met the baby prince since he was born and some of you out there might find that scandalous, but it happens.

The final conclusion, coming from the same estranged family member, “I suppose Carole may feel that the Palace doesn’t want her to see her wider family regularly now she is grandmother to the future King. Perhaps she is complying with what she thinks is their wish but it doesn’t make it easier.”
