The Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton has learned her lesson. Earlier this month, a huge scandal broke when, on one of her official appearances in Australia, she was photographed in a posture that was deemed so indecent for her station that the British media pretty much asked all other media outlets not to run the photos because doing so would be in violation of her privacy.

What actually happened was that, as she got off the helicopter, her skirt caught the wind and went up to her waistline. Because the Duchess favors loose skirts and light fabrics, this wasn’t the first time it happened, but it was a first in terms of having her royal derriere exposed to the world, particularly since she wasn’t wearing panties, but thongs.

The other day, Kate made her first appearance since the scandal, which has come to be referred as Bum-gate or the Royal Bum-gate. As you can see in the photo above, she may have learned her lesson because she stepped out in a much more fitted dress, made of a less light fabric.

Kate showed up at the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich for a reception for the America’s Cup, and donned a naval-themed dress that showed off her amazing figure and, what do you know?!, made all wardrobe malfunctions practically impossible.

And there’s even more evidence to support the theory that she has finally had enough of these malfunctions: the Daily Mail has photos of Kate on another appearance, at the Queen’s second garden party of the year at Buckingham Palace, for which she wore a fitted lace Alexander McQueen design.

The Queen was also there and, considering reports that she was furious with Kate for embarrassing the Royal Family like that by not dressing according to her position, we imagine she was pleased for once to see her look so demure.

As the scandal died down, one particular rumor started making the rounds that could possibly explain Kate’s new choice in dresses – other than the fact that she’s learned a very important lesson, that is. It is said that her handlers were so furious with her refusal to have fabric weights put in her hemlines, to prevent skirts from riding up, that they were looking to hire someone to oversee her wardrobe more attentively.

That person’s responsibilities would also include standing / walking behind Kate and catching her skirt if it went up with the wind. Clearly, their services were not needed on these two occasions, because she’d probably made sure they were redundant by choosing fitted dresses. #Winning.
