The rumors according to which Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton is expecting twin girls are beginning to gain momentum. Initially, the news came about as an insider tip from the palace, but now more and more sources are claiming that Kate is going to have a double birth this time around.

Kate has gone under the radar since her pregnancy was announced, and it's believed that it had a lot to do with her bout with extreme morning sickness, an ailment which affects roughly 2% of pregnant women, doing exactly what the name says – causing a state of extreme nausea.

This has caused the Duchess to cancel all public appointments, despite the fact that the Palace announced that she was feeling better and would resume her duties beginning with the month of October.

Sources confirm the double pregnancy after Kate went in for an ultrasound

Star Magazine claims to have spoken with some reliable sources which claimed that Kate's double pregnancy was also confirmed by an ultrasound she took recently. A friend of the couple told the magazine that both Kate and William were over the moon when they saw two “tiny human beings” on the screen.

“Will said Kate’s mouth dropped open and her eyes almost popped out of her head, then she squealed, ‘Oh my God!’ He’ll never forget the look on her face — it must have been priceless!” describes the source the couple's reaction and indeed it must have been priceless.

The Queen was informed in person of the new addition to the royal family

The news was shared with the couple's close circle of friends, but as it happens in these cases, also with the Queen. If William let his father know over the phone, the Queen found out the news in person, as the Prince drove to Windsor Castle and informed his grandmother of the two little princesses that would be welcomed to the family in a few months' time.

The scenario that Kate was pregnant with twins has been floating around for some time, but this is the first reliable proof we've had since the pregnancy was announced. The couple is now said to be making preparations to welcome the two girls in their new residence in Anmer Hall in Norfolk.

The Prince and Kate decided to move there from Kensington Palace in order to be out of the eye of the public and the press. Just last week, the Palace issued a formal letter to a paparazzo who was warned against stalking Prince George on his daily routines.

The royal couple also issued a formal statement which underlined the need for privacy on behalf of the Prince. They appealed to the media to allow George to have a normal childhood, claiming that he would have plenty of time to be in the spotlight as a grown-up.
