14 DAY TRIAL // Here’s an honor she certainly did not wish to have bestowed on her: the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton has become a “role model” or thinspiration on pro ana websites, it has emerged.
Before her May wedding to Prince William, Kate reportedly embarked on a diet and workout routine meant to get her in the best shape possible for the fabulous day, for the ceremony that was watched by millions of people from around the world.
As pictures online can attest, she didn’t stop losing weight now, but continues to drop the pounds to this day, even generating some talk that she may be having an eating disorder.
Pro ana websites, sites that promote anorexia and the anorexic figure as ideals, have picked on Kate’s weight loss and are using her as “thinspiration” – that is, as a sort of role model, the Daily Mail writes.
“The Duchess of Cambridge has now become a ‘role model’ on controversial pro-anorexia websites because of her continued weight loss,” says the tab.
“Once a healthy size 10-12, Kate, whose waist is now so tiny she managed to make super-thin Hollywood star Nicole Kidman look dumpy during a recent dinner event in California, is now estimated to be a UK size 4, known as size 0 in the States,” the Mail adds.
According to a Palace source, Kate will be devastated when she hears of this, especially since her goal isn’t to lose more weight right now.
The same source denies that the Duchess is suffering from an eating disorder or, as some tabloids claim, that she’s starving herself as a means to have at least some control over her life.
“Kate is very slender but she certainly doesn’t have an eating disorder,” the insider vouches.
“She’ll be horrified that she is on these sites. Yes, she has lost weight but that’s largely down to the stress she has been under and all the travelling she has done recently,” the spy adds.
