There’s no denying that Kate Gosselin and her adorable 8 kids and her ex-husband Jon Gosselin were, at the time their reality show was airing on TLC, the biggest stars in television. That’s water under the bridge now and, away from the spotlight, Kate is living a startlingly different life.

Two years after her show got the axe, Kate sat down with People magazine to catch up on what she’s been doing. The full interview will be out this Friday, but the online preview issue already offers some interesting tidbits.

For instance, Kate admits that her occasional diva behavior probably cost her a lot more than she was willing to admit at the time, and probably also contributed to her not getting any more work offers for TV after her show ended.

She did try, though, to get a new TV project – at one point, desperately so. Nothing stuck.

These days, Kate has made peace with the reality of having to work hard to provide for the kids.

“I’m living very carefully these days,” she says, adding that she’s “piecing and patching together” an income from many projects. “To not have a reliable income is scary,” Kate admits.

Thinking back, she’d probably undo many things she did when she was at the height of her fame.

“I made so many mistakes, of course,” Gosselin concedes.

“It feels like a whole other lifetime ago. And sometimes I don't even remember much of it. Both when the babies were first born and during the divorce, I was on survival mode,” Kate further says.

“I feel like I've lived two lifetimes already. I'm not the same person I was... I don't even recognize her,” she continues.

In the full People interview, Kate will also talk about her daily struggles and her biggest regrets in life, while also offering an insight into her kids’ life, now that they don’t get to spend so many hours with a camera crew.
