Kate Gosselin has her hands full at the moment, doing ABC’s Dancing With the Stars, countless interviews and preparing for the release of her
two new shows. As such, she’s also making a lot of money, in order to “provide for the children,” as she usually puts it. Jon, on the other hand, sees her prolonged absences from home as reason enough to ask for full custody and spousal support – the problem is, neither will ever happen, Kate tells
People.
As it’s already known, at the moment, Jon gets $20,000 a mouth for his involvement in the now-defunct TLC reality show “Jon and Kate Plus 8,” and has visitation rights with the children, who reside with their mother. Claiming that Kate is an “absentee mom,” Jon has recently
asked a judge to change the initial decision, and to give him permanent custody, as well as spousal and child support. Kate, however, is determined to not let anything come between her and her children.
“I’m not afraid I’ll lose my kids,” a confident Mrs. Gosselin says for People. “I won’t lose my kids. We’re glued together, as a package, and nothing, nothing, will stop me from being with my kids. A law? Yeah, right. Don’t mess with me when it comes to my kids. You are never, ever going to win. I want nothing more than for [Jon] to set up a stable life for himself, so that he can be part of making our kids’ lives more stable,” the mother of 8 adds.
Not only does Kate want Jon to make his life more stable, but she’s also trying to make him pay child support regardless of how much she makes now – or will make at a certain point in time in the future, says
TMZ. According to her attorney, Kate is asking for Jon to pay child support, even though she’s more than able right now to provide for her extended family.
“Kate’s lawyer, Mark Momjian, tells TMZ... although Kate is making good money now – we’re told hundreds of thousands of dollars on Dancing With the Stars – ‘she won’t let him off the hook for child support, no matter how much money Kate makes.’ Momjian says Jon has a responsibility to work and must pay child support commensurate to his salary. If that means getting a job at a restaurant, some of his paycheck should go to the kids, regardless of what Kate makes. Momjian says, ‘He will have to contribute. It’s every parent’s responsibility’,” TMZ writes.
At the moment of writing, Jon hadn’t made any statement yet regarding the latest developments.
