Kate Gosselin, America’s most famous single mother of 8 and star of TLC’s reality show “Kate Plus 8,” can’t even think about dating, because her perfect man would have to be Superman, she says in an interview for The Today Show with Matt Lauer.
Kate is doing media rounds to promote the latest season of the reality show and, among questions about her and the kids’ trip to Australia to shoot it, she also has to answer more personal ones, like whether she’d want to start dating again.
While she doesn’t say outright that she’s not into dating right now, Kate admits to Matt that the perfect guy for her would have to be Superman to deal with everything going on in her life, as the video below will confirm.
“I feel like I have my life together pretty much, but let be honest; it’s going to take a strong person to wrangle this mess. If [a suitor] can pass the test, he’s got to be Superman,” Kate says.
“You start out the first time around, and you’re some single with not a lot of baggage or issues. I like to have fun, but I don’t have a lot of time for myself. I do have eight kids!” the reality mom adds.
Because of this, since the bitter divorce from Jon, Kate has only had “half a date” as she describes it.
Speaking of Jon, in the same interview, Kate admits that the divorce took its toll on their children and that two of them had to be pulled from school because of it.
Jon sees his kids only two weekends a month and Kate wishes he’d want to get more involved in their life, though she can’t do anything to change him mind about it.
“I am doing what I can to reach out and communicate. What I receive back is not in my control. I do what I can to involve him in our family… He has them two weekends a month,” Kate explains.
“I wish he would see them more, to be honest. So do they. I think the important thing is that I control my reaction, my attitude and my words,” she adds.
