As Kate Gosselin continues to captivate audiences with the TLC specials on her and the 8 children minus Jon, spinoffs of “Jon and Kate Plus 8,” of course, and she’s preparing for the launch of her own show on the same network, she’s also thinking of branching out. The mother of eight once said she’d love to do movies, even if only voiceovers, but she seems to have had a change of heart in the meantime, PopEater reports.

Set to make the most of her time in the spotlight, Kate is looking to launch a career in music, sources reveal for the e-zine. Admittedly, she is convinced that she can do almost anything she sets her mind to do, as well as that she really has what it takes to make this work. However, just to be on the safe side and avoid embarrassment from the onset, she’ll do a Christmas album at first – with the children nonetheless.

“Kate Gosselin wants to show America that it’s not just her dance skills that are a hidden talent. Now, the famous mom and her eight adorable tots want to release a holiday CD packed full of all her favorite religious classics. ‘Kate is pitching a CD of holiday songs sung by herself and all her children,’ a record executive tells me. ‘She sees herself as a modern day Maria from The Sound of Music, except this time the family singers won’t be the Von Trap family, they would be the Gosselins’,” PopEater writes.

According to a tipster from camp Kate, the decision to make music and come out with an album was prompted by her determination to make the most of what she has right now, in order to secure a good future for her children. Kate is well aware that, despite all the controversy and the criticism, audiences simply can’t take their eyes off her. “Don’t be fooled. Kate sees herself as a brand. She knows her fifteen minutes are not going to last forever and wants to make the most of it. After all, it’s Kate that’s putting the food on the table for all those children,” dishes the tipster.

Still, with all her determination and undeniable appeal to the public (which translates in an ability to generate impressive ratings), Kate Gosselin is yet to land a record deal no matter how hard she lobbies her latest project around town, PopEater also reports. On the other hand, should anyone be interested in it, a deal should be on the table – signed and sealed – by the end of the summer or in fall at the latest, word in the blogosphere has it.
