Hour-long special will help fans catch up with the once-popular family, Kate and the kids

Kate Gosselin has been trying (and failing) to get back on TV since TLC pulled the plug on her once-successful reality series Kate Plus 8, formerly Jon & Kate Plus 8. After years of struggles in this sense, she’s finally getting her wish, as TLC has just confirmed that a new special will be airing this summer.

So grab the popcorn and a cold one if that’s your thing, and get comfortable in front of the TV because, this June, TLC will bring Kate and her adorable 8 children back on the small screen, for an hour-long special meant to help audiences catch up with their lives, Radar Online reports.

And this confirmation is what finally explains the countless interviews Kate has been doing as of late, including that super awkward chat with Savannah Guthrie on The Today Show, when her eldest girls, the twins, absolutely refused to speak no matter how much she goaded them.

This also confirms what bitter ex-husband Jon, he too once part of the successful Gosselin TV brand, has been saying for about the same number of weeks that Kate has been doing interviews: she’s dying to get back on TV.

Whether this special will lead to more appearances or even a new reality series, we guess it all depends on how well it fares in the ratings.

“It’s now been over two years since we’ve last seen the Gosselin clan, and Kate and the kids are catching up with TLC for an hour-long special, slated to air in June. In 2007, viewers first fell in love with one of the most talked about families in reality television history. With the twins now 13, and the sextuplets about to turn 10, Cara, Mady, Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Collin, Leah, and Joel join their mother in this update about their life as a family today,” TLC says.

“Throughout the special, Kate and the kids get us up to speed on what’s changed in the family – how the kids have grown, what their interests are now, and what the latest is on Kate’s life and career. The hour will take a look back at some of the most memorable and poignant family moments from the past several years, and will highlight what the day-to-day routine has been for Kate and the kids since we last saw them,” the network continues.

Even if the special doesn’t lead to more TV work, at the very least it will generate more interviews and this, in turn, spells more drama. The more Kate promotes the special, which she will probably be contractually bound to do, the more Jon will try to bash her and, at the same time, ride the new wave of attention for his own interest.

So keep your eyes peeled: this spring is bound to packed by Gosselin drama.
