If there’s one thing that Kate Gosselin dreads more than dating again, that’s the thought that she may have to get a regular job if the brand new season of “Kate Plus 8” on TLC fails to bring in the big numbers, a new report suggests. For the latest season of the show, which sees Kate dealing with
the challenges of motherhood without help from her estranged ex Jon, TLC has pulled all the stops,
PopEater says, citing ongoing reports.
Though the show kept going strong for a while after Kate and Jon got divorced and he chose not to be a part of it anymore, ratings for it have been declining.
Things are so bad right now that TLC has let Kate know that, if ratings go below the 1 million mark, they will pull the plug on it, which means Kate will have to think of something else to do to earn a livelihood.
“Although the new season pulls out all the stops, including taking Kate Gosselin and her kids to Australia for the premiere, insiders tell me that everyone, especially Kate, is worried that she might not receive
a warm welcome back,” PopEater says.
“This season Kate has been told to bring her A-game. If her ratings drop to the 1 million mark this will be her last season, and then Kate would have to get a real job,” a TV producer says for the same e-zine.
In her bid to do everything in her power to make the ratings pick up again, Kate has spared no effort for the upcoming season, another insider says for the aforementioned publication.
“You are going to see Kate spend another night camping, but this time without Sarah Palin. You will see her explore Sydney, meet with aboriginals and even swim with sharks in an attempt to win back viewers,” the tipster dishes.
And viewers it’s precisely what “Kate Plus 8” needs right now: the series debuted strong to 3.4 million viewers, but soon settled at an average of 1.6 million viewers per episode.
The highest rated episode of the entire series was the one in which
Kate and Jon announced their divorce, which managed to keep about 10 million people at home glued to their TV sets.
