Kate Gosselin and her 8 children with ex-husband Jon Gosselin are back on TV, but if she had any other way of providing for them, she can promise we would never see her face on any reality show. Admittedly, Kate Gosselin hates being famous.

Once TLC’s biggest reality star, for the past couple of years, Kate has been struggling financially. She and Jon, her former co-star on the series that turned them both into international stars, are divorced and she has sole custody of the 8 children.

She is also their sole provider and, as you might imagine even if you don’t have a single kid in your care, that stuff is financially (and emotionally) draining.

In a recent interview with E! News (video is available at the link), Kate tries to argue that this is the only reason she accepted to do the 2-part special with TLC, Kate Plus 8: Sextuplets Turn 10, the first part of which has already aired.

She seems cross when asked if she’s doing this “reunion” type of show for the fame and the exposure she gets, which is what most of her former fans suspect either way.

“Hear me very clearly,” she tells the interviewer, pointing a finger at her. “If there was another way to singly support eight children, you would not know this name and I would be on an island, and so would they. You would never hear from us again.”

In saying this, Kate is basically denying reports that have been making the rounds for the last couple of years, saying she was “desperate” to get back on TV and even that, at one point, she was “begging” TLC bosses to take her back.

We might never know if that was ever the case but, if we’re to believe Kate, her life would be completely different if she had any other way of providing for the kids. At the same time, she wants us to know that she isn’t oblivious to the fact that she’s got easy in life.

“Having said that,” she continues, “this is a pretty fantastic way to feed my children, keep them in an amazing house, at an amazing school, and make memories together. That's just my life and cameras are there. So I understand this situation because I landed on TV somehow. This is just part of that. I look at it as work and the kids are with me, they run in and out of the frame, and we go to cool places sometimes.”

In the same interview, Kate talks about her troubled relationship with Jon and the many nasty stuff they’ve said about each other since the divorce, how she plans on explaining some of those things to the kids, and what she looks for in a man, possibly the next Mr. Gosselin.
