Kate Gosselin is a very lonely person but it’s not because, as she frequently explains, she’s too busy a mom and businesswoman to have time for anything else, but because she made sure she cut off everyone from her and her children’s life, her sister reveals in a new interview.

Kendra Wilber, Kate’s sister, sat down for an interview with the Daily Mail, explaining she’s chosen to break the silence because she hopes Kate will understand how bad it is for her eight children to have absolutely no contact with her family.

She says Kate shut out everyone she knew from before she attained fame on TLC’s Jon & Kate Plus 8 reality show, because she deemed them below her, thinking they would somehow prevent her from becoming as famous or as rich as she wanted.

Since then, Kendra and the rest of the family, together with acquaintances who even helped Kate when the sextuplets were born, have tried to get in touch with her again, to make her understand that it’s wrong to keep the children so isolated and shut out from the world.

“Kate does not speak to her family at all. It is very painful,” Kendra says. “In the past the people who were close to her were the people who were making money from her and we thought that was very dangerous. The last time we saw and spoke with her it was in our church parking lot. That was years ago, I have lost track of time.”

Kendra lives only miles from Kate’s house but they never see each other. She believes Kate decided she no longer wanted to be part of the family when she first told her that she shouldn’t jump at the chance of getting into showbiz without thinking twice about how this might affect the kids.

She mistook concern for jealousy and, instead of talking with her relatives and friends to set their minds at ease, Kate chose to shut them out altogether, just like that.

“Years later the divorce came about and we had every right to be [concerned]. But there was no conversation and no argument. I guess we have our own life and she wants a big life and we don’t fit in. We are just normal everyday people and she doesn’t want us to be part of her life,” Kendra explains.

“I send a Christmas card every year, but I never hear anything. It’s hard, it’s really, really hard. I don’t know why. It’s terrible because my children, their cousins, talk about them and wish they could see them. We have our memories from years ago, but we have no contact,” she continues.

In saying these things, Kendra is echoing Jon Gosselin’s statements from recent months: Kate’s ex has long been saying that she’s exploiting the kids without putting their best interest first, accusing her of being a manipulative, inconsiderate, and calculated woman.
