Kaspersky Lab, one of the world's most appreciated antivirus solutions provider, announced the release of Kaspersky Mobile Security 7.0, a new product that offers integrated protection for smartphones running Windows Mobile and Symbian.

Kaspersky Mobile Security 7.0 comes with powerful protection for data stored on handsets in case they are lost, as well as protection against malware, network attacks and SMS spam. A range of functional and technical modifications have enhanced the performance of the software, making it more user-friendly and more effective.

The new key functions of Kaspersky Mobile Security 7.0 enable mobile users to completely block a lost phone or to delete, remotely, all its data. Furthermore, in case a device is stolen, the SIM-Watch feature will prevent the thief from accessing the phone's data without the original SIM card. If the original SIM card is replaced, the real owner of the handset will be notified, via a message, of the new telephone number.

Kaspersky Mobile Security 7.0 scans network connections and incoming files in real-time, and can perform anti-virus scans of the whole smartphone either instantly, on demand, or on schedule. The software can also block messages from incorrect or unwanted numbers. It can even block SMS messages that contain words or phrases undesired by users and previously entered into a blacklist.

The new Kaspersky Mobile Security 7.0 updates its antivirus databases on a regular basis, protecting users against all the latest malicious applications. The updates can be made via WAP/HTTP (GPRS, EDGE, Wi-Fi and so on) or via PC synchronization and are performed at intervals set by the user.

For the moment, the 7.0 version of Kaspersky Mobile Security is only released for Windows Mobile 5.0 and 6.0 Pocket PCs (get a trial from here), Windows Mobile 5.0 and 6.0 Smartphones (get a trial from here) and Symbian 9.x S60 3rd Edition (get a trial from here). For other Symbian phones, there's a 6.0.80 version available.
