Kaspersky Anti-Virus is one of the most popular antivirus solutions available on the internet, including
powerful features for the protection of a vulnerable system: attractive interface, low requirements, very often updated database and strong engine to identify infected files.

As many of you are Kaspersky Anti-Virus users, you've probably noticed that yesterday, the updating process was unable to launch. This means that you were vulnerable to the latest threats discovered until the program updated its database.

Kaspersky Labs confirmed the problem and sustained the affected programs are Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6, Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6 MP1, Kaspersky Internet Security 6 and Kaspersky Internet Security 6 MP1. The company also added that the error may appear at the end of the updating process or will crash the entire application without updating the database.

The solution provided is: open Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0, go to Settings/Service and uncheck the option entitled "Enable Self-Defence". If you use Kaspersky Anti-Virus Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0.0.299, 6.0.0.300 or 6.0.0.303 the "Self-Defence" option is entitle "Protection". Then, you should download the CleanupUpdCfg.zip archive from here, unpack and run CleanupUpdCfg.exe. After the process finishes you can run the update feature. Don't forget to enable the "Self-Defence" option!
