The security performances of the recently launched Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0 have already been recognized on the 64-bit edition of Windows Vista Business. In this context, Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0 received the VB100 award from the Virus Bulletin magazine, and the timing could not have been better as the security solution from the Russian anti-virus maker exited beta stage and was made available to general consumers on August 1. According to Kaspersky, the Anti-Virus 7.0 product was designed with Microsoft's latest operating system (Windows Vista) in
mind, and it managed to prove that because it had been certified for the Windows platform, via the Redmond company's logo program.

At this point in time, Kaspersky is the pride owner of two VB100 awards for Windows Vista, one with the Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0.2.546 dating from February 2007, after the consumer launch of the operating system, and the one received following the testing of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0.0.123 on Windows Vista x64.

According to the Russian security maker, Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0 contains: "three protection technologies against new and unknown threats: hourly automated database updates, preliminary behavior analysis and on-going behavior analysis," but also delivers "protection from viruses, Trojans and worms; protection from spyware and adware; real-time scanning for email, Internet traffic and files; protection from viruses when using ICQ and other IM clients; protection from all types of keyloggers; detection of all types of rootkits and automatic database updates."

Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0 is supported on all the available editions of both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows Vista and Windows XP, but also on Windows 2000 Professional SP4. The new VB100 award comes to wash away the poor results delivered by Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0.2.621 on Windows XP just two months ago. In June, Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0.2.621 failed the Virus Magazine test, and was outperformed even by Microsoft's OneCare.

Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0 was tested by Softpedia as being 100% Clean and a trial version of the product can be downloaded from here.
