14 DAY TRIAL // Chris Brown’s love life is very complicated, and has been so since before 2009, when he was arrested for beating then-girlfriend Rihanna to a pulp in a fit of rage. The two continued to date on and off for another while, but he also started seeing model Karrueche Tran in 2011.
She could have been “the one,” if Chris didn’t father a baby with another woman and then hide it from Karrueche. She sat down with Iyanla Vanzant for an Oprah special, which aired this weekend, and she admitted that she found out about the baby from social media.
Karrueche still loves Chris
Karrueche Tran dumped the R&B star the next day after news of his secret broke out. She also announced her decision to her fans on social media, tweeting that she didn’t want this kind of drama in her life, which was a lot coming from a woman who kept going back to Chris no matter how badly he treated her.
And he did do that, she admitted in the interview. Two excerpts from it are also available below, right below an Instagram post in which Karrueche explains why she suddenly felt the need to speak out, especially since she’s been keeping mum for all these years.
No matter how badly she and Chris fought or how badly he trashed her in public, Karrueche rarely opened up about their relationship this way. The model says she’s doing it now because she wants the world to have her side of the story as well, so she can move on.
She still loves him, though. Teary-eyed, she admits that she has moments when she wishes things had turned out differently, when she daydreams about what could have been, when her heart breaks because she loves the man who betrayed her.
Nonetheless, she doesn’t want to go back to him. Karrueche knows she too contributed to a bad situation by allowing herself to stay in that relationship, and this time she’s determined to be free of it.
The secret child was the last straw
Perhaps what hurt her the most was having to find out that Chris had a 9-month-old baby not from Chris, but from the press. It’s true, he’d hinted that he wanted to speak to her about something serious, but he still didn’t do it until it was too late.
“My issue is with myself and with Chris,” she says. “Not the baby, not the mother, not Rihanna, nobody. It's me and him. Now? It ain't no making up right now. No, there's no making up right now. I'm trying to be my strongest and I understand what he's put me through and I'm fed up with it.”
Karrueche makes it clear that, though she still loves Chris, there is absolutely nothing he can do anymore to fix this, to get back with her.
So far, it’s been complete radio silence from camp Brown.

I pray everyday to God to strengthen me as a human and a young woman. I only ask that you at least understand me, whether you continue to like me or hate me.
