Karl Lagerfeld is so sorry he upset Adele earlier this year by saying about her in an interview she was “a little bit too fat” that he's literally showering her in Chanel bags and accessories, says a new report.

It all started in February when, speaking of his music preferences, Uncle Karl said that he loved both Adele and Florence Welch.

Physically, he considered the former “a little too fat” but with a gorgeous face, while the latter always made sure her wicked fashion sense eclipsed her.

Fans of Adele were upset to hear of Karl's comments, especially since they came in a context in which he was only supposed to talk about her music and not her figure or whether her weight was “standard” or not.

According to the Daily Mail, the designer too is sorry to have put his foot in his mouth like this. So filled with remorse is he that he's been sending countless purses Adele's way.

“He has already publicly apologized for his headline-making comments. But Karl Lagerfeld has upped his groveling privately to Adele, whom he famously called 'a little too fat',” the Mail writes.

“The Chanel Creative director has appealed to the Grammy-winner’s love of fashion and sent her a range of the label’s coveted handbags,” adds the British tab.

While she is definitely not a fashion victim, Adele is a handbag woman, so Lagerfeld's gesture must have touched a chord with her.

“He told his team to send Adele the best the fashion house have to offer after hearing she collected bags,” an unnamed spy reveals.

“He’s annoyed with himself because he ended up insulting her when he meant to compliment her. He thinks she’s beautiful and calls her divine,” adds the same insider.

Indeed, as we also reported at the time, after making the initial comment, Karl issued a public apology to Adele, saying he had nothing but respect for her voice and music, and admiration for her superb features.
