14 DAY TRIAL // It's been a steady drop, but sources say that the hit reality show “Keeping up With The Kardashians” isn't such a bit hit anymore. Recent figures indicate that the show has lost as many as 1 million viewers per episode since season 5.
That's a big drop even for the Kardashians who, in their glory days, could gather at least 3 million fans in front of the TV set on average, each time a new episode came out. It is now estimated that the highest watched ever episode of the reality show was the Season 5 premiere, which ranked a staggering 4.67 million viewers.
Even if the reality show was surrounded by controversy and scandal from the very beginning, it would seem that, in the last year, these scandals have done it more harm than good and proved that not all publicity was good publicity.
A big hit in viewer attendance was recorded after Kim Kardashian admitted that the reality show was not so real and that some parts, particularly those referring to her pregnancy, might not have been in full accordance with what happened in real life.
Still, the biggest drop was again caused by Kim, after she married Kris Humphries and then divorced him a mere 72 days later. Add to that other scandals, like Khloe being cheated by her husband with other women and also having a drug problem, and you have the reasons why people choose to turn their TVs to something else when the Kardashians come on.
Radar has got the figures for each season of the show since the famous season 5 and it boils down to this: if the 5th season managed to bring in an average of 3.39 million viewers, season 6 dropped 3.04 million, season 7 went even lower to 2.62 million, and finally season 8 came in at a feeble 2.40 million.
This would explain why the producers are desperately trying to get the show to rebecome popular and are spending ludicrous sums of money on promotional materials, such as Kardashian-themed Christmas cards and making trailers that hint at a possible marriage between Kim and famous rapper fiancée Kanye West.
