We reported on the immediate availability of Karbonn’s new Android handsets, Smart A21 and A9+ about two weeks ago, but the mobile phone manufacturer officially introduced the devices in India today.

There are no changes when it comes to price tag, so expect the Smart A21 to be up for purchase for Rs 11,990 (220 USD or 170 EUR), while the A9+ can be purchased for only Rs 9,990 (185 USD or 145 EUR) outright.

AndroidOS reports that both Android phones are available from leading retailers across the country for similar prices, so customers can choose the offer that suits them best.

Keep in mind that both smartphones ship with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system onboard and each is powered by a dual-core processor clocked at 1.2 GHz.

However, the A21 sports a large 4.5-inch qHD capacitive touchscreen display that supports 540 x 960 pixels resolution, whereas the A9+ has a much smaller 4-inch capacitive touchscreen display.

Furthermore, both devices come with 5-megapixel rear cameras and 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls. Karbonn A21 and A9+ also offer dual-SIM capability, which make them even more appealing to Indian customers.

It is also worth mentioning that the A21 is powered by a high-capacity 1800 mAh Li-Ion battery, while the A9+ has a slightly smaller 1420 mAh Li-Ion battery.

“Through the launch of the ‘Duple Series’, we seek to solidify our positioning as a major player in the technologically advanced networked devices market, and intend to make engaged mobility solutions a reality for the consumers around the world.

“Understanding the evolving consumer needs and to enhance their mobile experience, Karbonn Mobiles brings to them the Duple Series smartphones with dual core processor which leads to a better gaming experience, faster browsing & lesser power consumption,” said Shashin Devsare, executive director, Karbonn.
