Today, Indian mobile phone maker Karbonn has officially announced the availability of its Karbonn Titanium S1 Plus smartphone in India.

The handset emerged in the country over a month and a half ago, on April 17, yet the handset vendor hasn’t formally introduced it until now.

Apparently, the company has finally decided to officially confirm the availability of this device on the market in India, while also unveiling that it features a price tag of Rs. 6,490 ($108/€79).

However, as mentioned above, the mobile phone was already made available for purchase in India, and users can grab it at a lower price tag than the officially announced one, namely at Rs. 5,590 ($93/€79), as AndroidOS notes.

Despite its quite affordable price tag, the Karbonn Titanium S1 Plus does arrive on the market with decent hardware specifications packed inside.

First of all, we should note that the phone sports a 4-inch touchscreen display that can deliver a WVGA resolution, and that it is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor.

Additionally, the mobile phone was unveiled with 1GB of RAM packed inside, which should work nicely with the aforementioned quad-core processor to offer appealing performance capabilities.

The Karbonn Titanium S1 Plus was also announced with 4GB of internal memory, as well as with a microSD memory card slot so that users could add some more storage space to the package.

On the back, the new handset features a 5-megapixel camera, which should be able to offer HD video recording. Moreover, there’s a VGA camera on the front of this device so that users could make video calls while on the go.

The specifications list of this device also includes support for 3G networks, along with dual-SIM capabilities, and the usual Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities. Moreover, the handset sports a 1500mAh battery inside, which should deliver pretty decent usage times.

The Karbonn Titanium S1 Plus handset was announced in Black and White color versions. Unfortunately, the mobile phone runs under an older variant of the Google’s operating system, namely Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.

Cheap smartphones are highly sought for in India, and handset vendors out there are trying to come up with as many such devices as possible, in an attempt to grab a larger portion of the market.

Karbonn Titanium S1 Plus is a handset launched specifically to serve this purpose, despite the fact that it cannot offer the latest Android features. However, given its specs, the device could receive an update to Android 4.4 KitKat sooner rather than later.
