14 DAY TRIAL // Indian company Karbonn has just launched one of the cheapest Android smartphones available in India, the Smart A51. Although it won’t come with impressive features, Karbonn Smart A51 is aimed at those who cannot afford getting expensive smartphones.
The Indian market has some of the most affordable Android smartphones, so Karbonn’s Smart A51 will have a fierce competition in India.
The good news is that the handset ships with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system out of the box.
Although it’s not the newest, at least it doesn’t come with Gingerbread platform, which is usually what Indian customers get from low-end smartphones.
In addition, it offers dual-SIM support, which is another mandatory feature for handsets that make their debut on the Indian market. All these are available for only Rs 3,499 ($55/€40) outright, according to AndroidOS.
Hardware-wise, Karbonn Smart A51 sports a decent 1 GHz single-core processor, along with only 256 MB of RAM and 512 MB of internal memory. Users will be able to further expand storage up to 32 GB via microSD memory card.
Furthermore, it features a 3.5-inch HVGA capacitive touchscreen display, as well as a 3.2-megapixel rear-facing camera with LED flash and video recording.
Surprisingly, the budget-friendly smartphone comes with secondary VGA front-facing camera as well, though it does not offer 3G connectivity.
Other highlights of the Smart A15 include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support, along with microUSB port and 1100 mAh Li-Ion battery that has yet to be rated by the manufacturer.
One of the few Android smartphones priced under Rs 4,000 ($64/€47), Karbonn Smart A51 is now available for purchase in India through various major retailers and authorized resellers across the country.
Customers in India should know that the Karbonn Smart A15 entry-level smartphone can be purchased in both white and black color options.
